In 1999 on March 06, this movement was launched in order to save the nation from a disaster and discrimination. Nobody can imagine what a disastrous atmosphere had prevailed in the education sector during that time. Chhatrobondhu Miah Abdullah Wazed former MP called upon the mass people to participate in his movement. So people joined. Diplomats and leaders from home and abroad cooperated Mr. Wazed for this movement to turn it into a social movement. Now 10 years have passed. Success is ours-Unfair means has been rooted out though not completely but overwhelmingly, disastrous atmosphere in the education sector is on the healing position. The percentage of passed students has been improved; The rate of pass of SSC examinees in 1999 was 54.13%, in 2000 41.58%, in 2001 35.22%, in 2002 41.65%, in 2003 35.91%, in 2004 48.03%, in 2005 52.57%, in 2006 62.22%, in 2007 57.37%, in 2008 72.11%, in 2009 67.41%, in 2010 79.98%. Similarly the rate of pass of HSC examinees in 1999 was 53.40%, in 2000 37.03%, in 2001 26.11%, in 2002 27.08%, in 2003 38.43%, in 2004 47.60%, in 2005 59.74%, in 2006 63.92%, in 2007 65.60%, in 2008 76.19%, in 2009 70.43%, in 2010 74.28%.Thanks to all who cooperated us, joined our movement and worked with us


Life and works of Chhatro Bondhu Miah Abdullah Wazed, Founder of the Organization (In Brief)

Chhatro Bondhu Miah Abdullah Wazed was born in a reputed Muslim family in the village of Kuty of Kasba under Brahmonbaria district. His father had jute business and he had to work hard to maintain his family. Though he comes of a poor family, his father maintained his primary education so that he grew up as a literate person. His father appointed a goldsmith to teach him the basics. After a few days he was admitted to Ramkrishnopur School of Homna where he studied up to class three. Later he got himself admitted into Kuty Atal Biharee High School. He studied up to class five here. Due to financial crisis, he had to end his education here. He left home to find a way to earn money in 1958. He was 14 and all the money he had was one taka and six ana to venture his life out. He started as an apprentice of a loomer in Adamjee Jute Mills, Narayangonj.

After completion of three month training successfully, he was appointed as a permanent worker. There he worked for three months. He always dreamt of being great and his ambition made him restless. He went to new places in search of better opportunities. Giving up the job at Adamjee Jute Mills, he joined a shoe factory as an apprentice. After three month apprenticeship, he worked for three months as a worker. Then he joined a glass factory as a worker (net puller). In the glass factory he saw people pulling nets without any promotion, without any improvement in their life. Working hard he was promoted to machine man which he could continue no longer than a year. Later he managed a job of sales representative in Bataleek Chemo Pharmaceuticals and until 1968 he worked as a sales representative in many small and big companies.

In 1968, he started business setting up a chemical company named - Millat Chemical Company. It produced medicinal product Millat Balm for the treatment of headache. In the beginning, he lived at a rent of 30 taka per month shanty house. He continued study during his work and accompanied books with him, incase he got the opportunity to go through over. He had to stay in Chittagong for a long period of time and during this time he used to rent books from a local library. The rent was two ana per taka for each book. He achieved his present status undergoing hard work and perseverance. His company Millat Pharmaceuticals Ltd. is now one of the most notable Pharmaceutical companies in Bangladesh. He was elected twice as a Member of Parliament (5th and 6th). He is follower of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (B.N.P).

He is Chairman and Managing Director of Millat Pharmaceuticals Ltd. and Millat Chemical Company Ltd., Proprietor of Wazed Nagar Complex and Smrity International, a partner of Mahfuz Trading Agency and Desh Procharony. He is associated with various organizations. Besides, being the convener of Shikkhar Maan Songrakkhan O Nokol Protirodh Andolon, he is Secretary General of Bangladesh Cosmetics and Toiletries Manufacturers Association, member of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industries and member of FBCCI.

He is the founder of many educational institutions. There is a college after his name - Miah Abdullah Wazed Mohila College at Kuty in Kasba. Ajgar Ali Dakhil Madrasha and Ajgar Ali Child Home Complex are named after his late father. Asia Khatun Girls Hostel of Kuty Girls School was also founded by Miah Abdullah Wazed. He is the sole financer of Kichukkhan Rest House set up in Chowmohony at Kuty and a donor of Miah Abdullah Wazed Gold Medal being offered in Residential Model College in Mohammadpur, Dhaka. He has been funding many educational institutions in Kasba as well as many other institutions around the country.

He has been awarded many medals, accolades, and honors by many organizations in recognition of his contributions in various fields. They include Kamrul Ahsan Memorial Award awarded in 1987 for his contribution to the development of small and cottage industries, Mowlana Akbar khan Memorial Gold Medal in 1989 for his contribution to the development of industries. He was accorded Commercial Important Person (CIP) title by the Government of Bangladesh in 1993. A gold medal was awarded to him by Zia Cultural Organization (ZESAS) as the best patronizer of education in 1999. He was accorded the Chhatro Bondhu (Student friend) title in a thana convener meeting of Shikkhar Maan Sorgrakkhan O Nokol Protirodh Andolon on 22 July 2000.

He is the former Director of Lions Club of Dhaka Prominent, former Vice President of Bangladesh Pharmaceutical Industries Association, Former Director of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industries, proposer of employment project for unemployed people through cottage industries, former member of Parliamentary Standing Committee of the Ministry of Industries, founder and General Secretary of Bangladesh Unani Medicine Producers Association.

In his family life, he is father of two sons and six daughters. He visited United States of America, Britain, Switzerland, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Thailand, India, Egypt, China, Singapore, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia,Quatar Mymanmer, Srilanka and many other big cities of the world.
